Kim's Lace Scarf

Requires about 400 m (2-3, 50g balls) of fine sock, baby, or luxury light-weight yarn. London-Wul is happy to provide this pattern as a kit for you using our own luxurious Dream Come True alpaca/angora blend.

Instructions:

Using 5 mm needles, cast on 43 (57) sts. Knit 4 rows.

Lace pattern:

Row 1,3,5) K1 *yo, k3, ssk, yo, sl1-k2tog-psso, yo, k2tog, k3, yo, k1*, repeat from * to * until end of row.

Rows 2, 4) Purl

Row 6) Knit

yo=yarn over, ssk= slip one st as if to knit, then another. Insert your left needle from left to right into the front of the two just-slipped sts, then knit these two sts off together. sl1-k2tog-psso= slide one, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over (decreases two stitches)

"I don't bother with a row counter, but instead count the "knobs" below my needle from the sl1-k2tog-psso. When I have five "knobs" above the last purl ridge on the right side, I knit back a row rather than purling. End by knitting four rows and casting off. Block first, then darn in your ends."
