Ready to rocket past those garter stitch scarves? Our "Next Steps" class will walk you through
- reading patterns,
- working textured stitch patterns,
- working increases and decreases
- knitting in the round
- knitting on circular needles
- knitting on double pointed needles
you will complete,
- a textured sampler, scarf or cowl
- a hat
- fingerless mitts
In session 1 you'll learn how to read, and to stitch, basic stitch patterns. We'll explore a variety of stitch-work such as ribbing, basket weave, seed stitch, moss stitch, increases and decreases. You'll begin a textured scarf or sampler of your own design.
Homework: Work on pattern stitch sampler or textured scarf.
In session 2 we'll answer any questions regarding your pattern sampler including how to avoid and or repair mistakes. You'll learn to join your work in the round and you'll begin knitting a hat on circular needles.
Homework: Finish knitting circular-needle hat.
In session 3 you'll practice casting on with double pointed needles, ribbing & stockinette stitch to make handwarmers.
Skills Required
- you should be comfortable casting on, knitting, purling, and casting off
Materials
- we ask that yarn used in class be purchased in our shop and we will happily help you to choose a good fit for your project.
- Important! Your skein of yarn needs to be wound into a ball ahead of class. Be sure to come ahead of the date to purchase your yarn and we will help you with winding. (bonus! - you'll receive a 10% discount on materials purchased for your class)

- classes require a minimum of 4 students so bring a friend - or 3, to form your own class!
- In the case of rescheduling or cancellation you will be contacted by email 4 days before class (weather related cancellations may be one day in advance).
- the email that you provide will be used as your contact in the event that a class is cancelled etc.
